  • Williams and Weaver Named Penn State Harrisburg Student-Athletes of the Year

    Middletown, Pa. - On Friday, June 23rd, Athletic Director, Rahsaan Carlton announced that Penn State Harrisburg men’s soccer forward Victor Weaver and cross country/women’s track and field standout Ashley Williams were named the school’s 2016-2017 Male and Female Student-Athletes of the Year.

    Naperville, IL. - The Penn State Harrisburg women's track and field team continues to make strides as a program and in 2017 added another important step. Ashley Williams officially become the Lions first competitor to attend the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships that were held on March 10th and 11th at North Central College in Naperville Illinois.

    Middletown, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg has had more than a few top rated track and field athletes in their short history, but the woman who continues to set the bar is hurdler Ashley Williams. As a Freshman, Williams won the 60 meter hurdles while setting a Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) championship record. She also finished just shy of reaching Nationals after a third place finish in the 2016 Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) championships.

    Ithaca, NY- The Penn State Harrisburg men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams travelled to Ithaca College over the weekend to participate in the ECAC Indoor Track and Field Championships. Derrick Young placed fourth in the men’s heptathlon and Ashley Williams earned a first place finish in the women’s 60 meter hurdles.

The Lion’s were led by Ashley Williams who won the women’s 60 meter hurdles and Derrick Young who placed in several events

    Christopher Newport claimed its third straight indoor title at the 2016 CAC Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship, making the Captains a perfect three-for-three at the indoor meet since joining the CAC in the 2013-14 school year.
  • Penn State Harrisburg Ashley Williams Named CAC Track Athlete of the Week

    Penn State Harrisburg sophomore Ashley Williams was honored as the CAC Track Athlete of the Week after recording the eighth-best time in the nation in the 60-meter hurdles at the Bison Open at Bucknell. Williams finished third in the event and tops among Division III competitors with a time of 9.06 seconds. Her time ranks atop the CAC this season.

    Over the weekend the Penn State Harrisburg men’s and women’s track and field teams participated in the 2017 Spartan Regional Invitational at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex. Both sides had several strong individual performances for their first meet of the new year.

    Selingsgrove, Pa.- Penn State Harrisburg traveled to Susquehanna University to compete in the Susquehanna River Hawk Opener. The Lions boosted several CAC and ECAC Qualifying times in their first meet of the year, as well as, setting several school records.
