Gibson, O'Shell Lead the Way For XC at Lancaster Bible

LANCASTER, Pa. - Tatyana Gibson and Dillan O'Shell secured top-five finishes and Penn State Harrisburg's men's and women's cross country teams turned in impressive outings at Lancaster Bible's Charger Invitational on Friday afternoon, Sept. 16. 

 

The men earned a runner-up finish out of seven competing teams in the 8K event, while the women finished third out of five competing squads in the 6K race. Gibson finished third out of 41 total runners on the women's side thanks to her effort of 26:39.60, while O'Shell's time of 29:33.60 was good enough to clinch fourth out of 52 competitors in the men's event.

 

Elsewhere on the men's side, Sam Bishop and Jon Carnesi secured top-10 finishes. Bishop's run of 30:11.20 was good enough for seventh, while Carnesi's jaunt of 30:38.00 earned him a ninth-place finish. Luke Culver just missed out on a top-10 finish of his own, coming home 12th thanks to an effort of 31:21.00, while Steven Painter and Nic Spohn completed the Lions' group of runners.

 

On the women's side, Abagail Marquardt finished strong and earned a 20th-place finish after a run of 32:54.40. Madison Parks nearly secured a spot in the top 20, with her effort of 33:56.70 proving strong enough for 21st overall. Dessire Amaya's time of 34:28.20 was good enough for 23rd and Leah Gray rounded out the Penn State Harrisburg contingency in 38th. 

 

The Lions return to action at the Penn State Abington Invitational in Huntingdon Valley, Pa. next Saturday morning, Sept. 24.
