Women's Tennis Wins Sixth In a Row

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg's women's tennis team extended its recent win streak to six in a row with a decisive 9-0 victory over Clarks Summit at the Hoverter Tennis Complex on Saturday afternoon, April 20.

 

Allison Wootton and Breanna DeSantis continued their strong play as of late, rolling to an 8-0 sweep of CSU's Naomi Sadowitz and Melanie Stabler in the top doubles contest. Olivia Bandini and Sophia Bandini combined for an 8-0 sweep in the No. 2 doubles matchup and Anita Liu and Sarah Shaub were credited with the victory in the third outing to give the home team a 3-0 lead after doubles action.

 

DeSantis topped Sadowitz 6-2, 6-2 in the No. 1 singles contest, while Anita Liu cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 decision over Stabler in the second outing. Hailey Dey and Carissa Fallon each secured 6-0, 6-0 sweeps in the third and fourth matchups, respectively, while Chelsy Funebe celebrated her Senior Day with a convincing 6-1, 6-1 win in the No. 5 outing. Annie Wang was credited with the victory in the No. 6 spot to seal the sweep for Penn State Harrisburg.

 

The Lions wrap up the regular season when they host conference foe Cairn on Sunday afternoon.
