Women's Tennis Sweeps LBC in Conference Opener

breanna desantis and allison wootton fist bump against lancaster bible

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's women's tennis team opened up conference play with a 8-0 victory over Lancaster Bible at the Hoverter Tennis Complex on Saturday afternoon, March 30.

The Lions (6-6) won all three doubles matches, starting with Allison Wootton and Breanna DeSantis who defeated Lancaster Bible's Sarah Steckbeck and Janie Weist 8-0 in the top outing. The No. 2 duo of Olivia Bandini and Sophia Bandini held off Sierra Hartman and Natalie Hoover in an 8-4 victory, while Anita Liu and Sarah Shaub got the win in the No. 3 slot due to a Chargers forfeit.

It was more of the same in singles action, as no Penn State Harrisburg player needed more than two sets to come away with a victory. Wottoon went over Steckbeck 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 1 matchup, while O. Bandini handled Hartman in a 6-0, 6-0 decision in the second outing. In the third contest, DeSantis earned a 6-0, 6-0 win over Weist and Liu worked a bit harder to earn a 6-1, 6-1 victory in the No. 4 matchup. The day ended with an unfinished contest between Dey and Susannah Clawser due to wet weather in the area.

The Blue & White will try to keep it rolling in conference play when they go up against Penn College at home on Friday afternoon, April 5.
