OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Penn State Harrisburg's women's tennis team opened the spring portion of its 2023-24 schedule in convincing fashion, rolling to a 9-0 sweep over Stevenson in non-conference action on Sunday afternoon, Feb. 25.

The Lions (2-4) won all three doubles matches to set the stage for their eventual sweep. Allison Wootton and Breanna DeSantis defeated SU's Shelby Carter and Torrienne Emery 8-3 in the top outing. The No. 2 duo of Anita Liu and a returning Sarah Shaub held off Sofia McCoy and Erin Saunders in an 8-7 victory, while Hailey Dey and Sophia Bandini, in her first action back with the team, rolled to an 8-1 decision over Kara Chiang and Samantha Zudov in the third contest.

It was more of the same in singles action, as no Penn State Harrisburg needed more than two sets to come away with a victory. Wootton handled Carter 6-0, 6-3 in the No. 1 matchup, while DeSantis worked a bit harder to earn a 7-5, 6-3 decision over Emery in the second outing. Liu went over Saunder 6-1, 6-2 and Shaub settled back into solo competition nicely with a 6-1, 6-2 win against McCoy at the No. 4 spot. Dey made quick work of Zudov in the fifth contest thanks to scores of 6-1, 6-0 and Carissa Fallon put the finishing touches on the sweep with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Mackenzie Dicke in the No. 6 pairing.

Penn State Harrisburg will try to keep it rolling when they travel to Hilton Head, S.C. for the program's annual spring break trip beginning on Sunday, March 3.
