Women's Tennis Sweeps Penn State Abington

ABINGTON, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's women's tennis team cruised to a 9-0 victory over United East foe Penn State Abington on Monday afternoon to remain unbeaten in conference play. 

 

The Lions (9-6, 4-0 United East) swept through doubles play, led by an 8-3 victory for Allison Wootton and Breanna DeSantis over Laurie Flemming and Elisa Steinhardt in the top spot. Olivia Bandini and Sophia Bandini teamed up to earn an 8-0 sweep in the No. 2 matchup, as did Anita Liu and Sarah Shaub in the third contest. 

 

In singles action, Wootton handled Flemming 6-4, 6-3 in the No. 1 match, while Olivia Bandini rolled to 6-0, 6-0 sweep of Elizabeth Turner in the second outing. DeSantis took care of Steinhardt 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 3 matchup, Sophia Bandini topped Soniya Youngblood 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 4 contest, and Liu defeated Isabella DePorre 6-0, 6-1 in the fifth pairing. Hailey Dey's 6-0, 6-0 sweep of Abbey Anderson made it a clean sweep for the visiting Lions. 

 

Penn State Harrisburg heads to St. Mary's (Md.) for the team's final conference match of the spring on Wednesday afternoon.
