YORK, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's women's tennis team secured its first victory of the season in thrilling fashion with a 5-4 come-from-behind decision over York (Pa.) in non-conference acton on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 8.

In what proved to be a crucial contest, the team's top doubles pairing of Allison Wootton and Breanna DeSantis shook off an early 3-0 deficit and won eight of the final 11 points to snatch an 8-6 victory from York's Elsa Oestermarker and Bri Serruto.

Trailing 2-1 entering singles action, the Lions (1-4) got key wins from Wootton and Anita Liu, with the former rolling to a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Oestermarker in the No. 1 solo outing and the latter going over Serruto 6-3, 6-4 in the No. 3 matchup.

DeSantis worked hard in her marathon of a No. 2 contest, bouncing back from an opening-set loss with a second-set win before outlasting York's Hannah Sult in a 6-7, 6-2, 11-9 victory. Finally, it was Hailey Dey who refused to be defeated in her No. 4 singles matchup with Maddi Hagerty. Dey took the opening set 6-2 before falling in the second set by the same score. In the third and deciding set, Dey fought off three match points before emerging victorious with a 12-10 tally that sealed the first win of the season for Penn State Harrisburg.

Fresh off the exhilarating victory, the Lions will look to keep the momentum rolling when they travel to Susquehanna for their final match of the fall campaign on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 14.
