Women's Tennis Edged by Misericordia

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's women's tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision to regional opponent Misericordia at the Hoverter Tennis Complex on Saturday afternoon, Sept. 30. 

 

Allison Wootton and Breanna DeSantis secured the lone doubles victory for the Lions in the No. 1 contest, as they won 8-0. Elsewhere in doubles action, Penn State Harrisburg (0-4) saw Anita Liu and Hailey Dey topped by Misericordia's Lydia Barbour and Erin Cridge in the second outing, while Carissa Fallon and Meghaa Shanmugam were defeated in the No. 3 matchup. 

 

Wootton's strong play continued in a 6-1, 7-5 win over Emily Brecker in the top singles matchup and Liu fought to earn a three-set victory (6-2, 3-6, 11-9) in the No. 3 solo outing. DeSantis dropped a back-and-forth affair to Barbour by a 6-3, 3-6, 6-10 line and Dey was topped in the fourth slot by a score of 2-6, 1-6. Fallon and Shanmugam both came up short in the fifth and sixth contests to end the day for the Lions. 

 

Penn State Harrisburg return to action when they travel to York (Pa.) on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 8. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
