MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - For the second time in as many matches, Penn State Harrisburg's women's tennis team was edged by the slimmest of margins in a 5-4 setback against non-conference foe Albright at the Hoverter Tennis Complex on Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 20.

The Lions (0-2) took two of three doubles matches, led by Anita Liu and Hailey Dey's 8-4 win over Albright's Elicia Aponte and Valeria Sanchez in the No. 2 slot. The top contest saw Allison Wootton and Breanna DeSantis overcome a late deficit in tiebreak action and emerge with a hard-fought 8-7 decision against Alex Pancu and Michelle Timothy, while Carissa Fallon and Meghaa Shanmugam fell to Alaina Smith and Alizabeth Zarnofsky in the No. 3 outing.

Wootton's strong play continued in a 6-3, 7-6 victory over Pancu in the top singles matchup and Liu made quick work of Aponte in a 6-1, 6-4 win in the No. 3 solo outing. Dey dropped a back-and-forth affair to Sanchez by a 6-4, 4-6, 12-10 line and DeSantis nearly erased a second-set deficit before falling 6-3, 7-6 to Timothy in the second slot. Fallon and Shanmugam came up short in the fifth and sixth contests and the opposing Lions (1-0) escaped with the narrowest of victories.

Penn State Harrisburg will look to bounce back when the team hosts Hood for another non-conference tilt on Saturday afternoon.
