Women's Tennis Keeps Rolling With Sweep of Penn College

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg women's tennis' hot start to the season continued with a 9-0 sweep of North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) foe Penn College on Sunday afternoon, April 18.

 

The Blue & White were nearly perfect in doubles play, with Rachael Lim and Sydney Nye topping Coryn Oswald and Alexis Youse 8-0 in the No. 1 matchup and Mary Connolly and Gabrielle Sabatose sweeping Marcie Harman and Shelby Lanyon in the No. 3 contest. Isabella Pizzelanti and Olivia Hitz were also strong in the No. 2 outing, besting Georgia Macensky and Georgia Leitzel 8-2.

 

It was more of the same for Penn State Harrisburg in singles action, as no player needed more than two sets to come away with solo wins. Lim handled Oswald 6-1, 6-1 in the top contest, while Nye and Hitz each earned 6-1, 6-0 victories in their No. 2 and No. 3 outings, respectively. Sabatose bested Leitzel 6-4, 6-1 in the fourth matchup, Annalisa Petrascu defeated Harman 6-3, 6-2 in the five spot, and Pizzelanti took care of Lanyon 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 6 match.

 

Still undefeated overall and in conference play (4-0, 2-0 NEAC), the Lions will look to keep their record unblemished when they host Penn State Berks at the Hoverter Tennis Complex on Tuesday afternoon, April 20.
