Nye Sets Singles Victories Mark In Sweep of Clarks Summit

MIDDLETOWN, Pa.Sydney Nye set the all-time mark for singles victories during Penn State Harrisburg women's tennis' 9-0 win over a shorthanded Clarks Summit squad at the Hoverter Tennis Complex on Friday afternoon, April 9.

Nye also paired up with teammate Rachel Lim in doubles action and handled Knapp and Lauren Fadale 8-1 in the top matchup. In the No. 2 doubles contest, Penn State Harrisburg's Olivia Hitz and Isabella Pizzelanti teamed up to sweep CSU's Melanie Stabler and Katie McKee 8-0.

Gabrielle Sabatose made quick work of Fadale in solo play, earning a 6-0, 6-0 sweep in the No. 2 singles contest. Annalisa Petrascu secured a 6-0, 6-3 decision over Stabler in the No. 3 matchup, while Mary Connolly came away with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Katie McKee the No. 4 outing.

With play halted over the next week due to COVID-19 protocols, the Lions are currently set to return to action against St. Mary's (Md.) on Sunday afternoon, April 18.
