Lions Swept By Susquehanna

SELINSGROVE, Pa. - The Blue and White women's tennis team faced off against Susquehanna University Saturday afternoon.  The women were coming off their first win of the season beating Baptist Bible 6-3 on Friday.

Unfortunately, wether it was the travel or the short rest period between matches, Harrisburg could not match the Crusader's although they worked hard for their 9-0 victory.  The lions best opportunity to win in singles action came from freshman Laura Lin (Palmyra, Pa. / Susquehanna Township) who was playing the #5 spot.  She forced her opponent to seven games (7-5) in set one before falling 6-2 in the second.

The top doubles spot held strong the longest for the Lions.  The pair of Stephanie Harnden (Hershey, Pa. / Hershey) /Theodora Avramidis (Vernon, N.J. / Vernon Township) fought valiantly before dropping the game 8-4.  Harrisburg has a young group of women holding down the fort this year with 50% of the starting team being freshmen.  If the team can stay together and continue to improve, good things could lie ahead for the Lions.

The Blue and White finish off their fall season this week.  Tuesday they head to Goucher for a 3:00 p.m. start, followed by their final match of the year at home verse Albright.
