MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's women's soccer team advanced to the United East Volt Division Final thanks to a 1-0 shutout victory over Penn College in semifinal action on Tuesday night, Oct. 31.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Penn State Harrisburg (10-4-4) controlled much of Tuesday night's contest, needing just one score to top conference foe Penn College (11-2-7) and move on to Thursday night's United East Volt Division Final.

Despite a couple of looks in the first half, the Lions were unable to get on the board until early in the second half when the home team was rewarded with a free kick following a Wildcat foul. Katie Brown skipped the ball across the turf to Abigail Frew who ripped her attempt past Penn College goalkeeper Nicole Lichtinger and into the back of the net in the 61st minute.

The Wildcats' best chance to pull even came in the 66th minute when Cassie Johnson worked through a pair of Penn State Harrisburg defenders and faced up goalkeeper Sydney Mulka one-on-one, firing off a shot that Mulka turned away with her lower half to preserve the lead and eventually the postseason victory.

NOTABLES

- Frew's marker was her third of the season and first game-winning goal of the year.

- Brown's helper was her second assist of the fall.

- The blank sheet was Penn State Harrisburg's 11th shutout of the season.

- The Lions improved to 10-0-0 all-time against Penn College.

WHO'S NEXT?
