Women's Soccer Forced to Settle For Tie With Lancaster Bible

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's women's soccer team let a two-goal advantage slip through its grasp late in the second half of a 2-2 draw with United East foe Lancaster Bible on Wednesday night, Oct. 18.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED

Penn State Harrisburg (8-3-4, 3-0-1 United East) took the lead midway through the first half and tacked on another early int he second but Lancaster Bible (9-4-3, 3-2-1 United East) mounted a charge late in the second half, scored a pair of goals in the final 18 minutes, and escaped with a draw on Wednesday night.

 

Kylie Anne Yap got the scoring started in the 21st minute when she finished off a find from Kylee Altland in the right side of the box. Halftime came and went and the Lions added to their advantage in the 56th minute when Serenity Hill fired home a loose ball in the box following another feed from Altland. 

 

The Chargers finally found life when Kendal Ream converted a goal with a flick-on header off a free kick from Samantha Perloni in the 72nd minute before Isabella Eufemia finished off a cross from Madisyn Baine with less than four minutes remaining to complete the comeback and escape with the 2-2 tie. 

 

NOTABLES

- The Lions outshot Lancaster Bible 13-to-5 overall and 8-to-3 in shots on frame. 

- Yap's marker was the second her young collegiate career.

- Hill's goal was her team-leading fifth of the season.

- Thanks to her pair of helpers, Altland now leads Penn State Harrisburg with six assists.

- Lancaster Bible's Kari Ann Mecke made six saves in goal.

The Lions host United East foe Penn State Abington for Senior Day in the team's penultimate contest of the regular season on Saturday afternoon.
