Women's Soccer Cruises to Fifth Straight Win

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's women's soccer team won its fifth game in a row and recorded its third straight shutout with a 5-0 victory over United East foe Penn College on Tuesday evening, Sept. 20.

 

Serenity Hill broke a 28-minute scoreless stretch when she put her shot past Penn College goalkeeper Nicole Lichtinger and into the lower left corner of the net with 16:23 left in the opening half. Reigning United East Defensive Player of the Week Sarah Toche-Manley assisted on the game winner.

 

The Lions (5-1-2, 2-0 United East) roared to life in the second half, scoring four goals in the game's final 27:13. Kylee Altland netted a marker off an Abigail Frew assist in the 62nd minute and Olivia Inch tacked on another off a Mackenzie Mowery feed less than three minutes later. 

 

With just under 10 minutes left to play, Katelyn Monette finished off a cross from the left corner from Sydney Hemler to make it 4-0 and Sophia Meller put the finishing touches on the decisive victory with a goal off a find from Christina Radanovic with less than two minute remaining.

The Lions face a tough test when they host No. 23 Franklin & Marshall for a non-conference tilt on Saturday night. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
