HOW IT HAPPENED

The Lions (8-4-4) jumped out to an early lead before their offense roared to life after the break, leaving no doubt in a 4-0 shutout victory over John Jay (5-5) on Monday night.

Reigning United East Offensive Player of the Week Kylee Altland got the scoring started with a quick strike in the fifth minute, finishing off a through ball from Sarah Calkins to put the home team ahead in the early going.

The advantage held steady at one heading into halftime but Calkins quickly changed that with a finish off a feed from Kyla Brossoit that doubled the Penn State Harrisburg lead just 2:33 into the second half. Sydney Hemler got into the scoring act when she beat John Jay goalkeeper Lexi Reidenbaker to make it 3-0 in the 70th minute.

The Blue & White wasted less than two minutes to find twine again. This time, it was Rhyan Socash who buried a penalty kick in the 72nd minute after drawing a foul in the box to put the finishing touches on the game's scoring.
