Women's Soccer Leaves No Doubt In Win Over Penn College

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg's women's soccer team scored early and often in a 5-0 shutout victory over United East foe Penn College on Sunday evening, Sept. 19.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Penn State Harrisburg (3-1-3, 2-0-0 United East) netted three goals in the first half and never looked back in the team's shutout win over conference foe Penn College (2-3-0, 0-2-0) on Sunday evening.

Katie Kosovac and Rhyan Socash connected on the first marker, with Socash heading home a corner kick entry pass from Kosovac to put the home team ahead just 2:41 into the game. Kylee Altland got into the scoring act less than six minutes later when buried a goal off an assist from Amanda Thoryk in the game's eighth minute. Socash took advantage of a Penn College foul in the box when she converted a penalty kick 10 minutes later to make it 3-0; a lead the Lions took into halftime.

The Wildcats were more aggressive after the break and had a pair of scoring chances foiled at the last moment thanks to timely defense from defender Hannah Wheeler and goalkeeper Delaney Shifflett. The Blue & White responded on the other end when Sydney Hemler found twine in the 64th minute to add to the advantage before Sarah Toche-Manley capped the game's scoring in the 76th minute with an unassisted strike.
