Blue and White Fall on Road to Eastern

Blue and White Fall on Road to Eastern

St. Davids, Pa. – The Lions traveled to Eastern University on Saturday September 16th looking to build on their 10-0 win Wednesday over Clarks Summit University.  Eastern had hopes of following up their 2-1 OT win against a quality Haverford College team.   In the end, the Lions made a few costly mistakes in the defensive third that were too much to overcome as the Eagles claimed a 2-1 win.

How it Happened:

The Lions started strong and put together an impressive first half effort.  Unfortunately, it took just one shot in the first half for Eastern to take a 1-0 lead into halftime.  The play in the second half was a little more even as the home team found their stride and Harrisburg looked a little slower than the first half play.  Erica Hile showed great individual effort, followed by skill and composure as she won the ball from the last defender and took it straight to the goal before firing the game tying strike in the 48th minute.

Penn State Harrisburg gave up a goal a little more than five minutes later when the Lions were looking for a foul call that never came.  After 2-3 Lion players stopped, Eastern took advantage for the game winning score.
