MIDDLETOWN, Pa.-  After tremendous flooding and severe weather forced numerous postponements and cancellations, Penn State Harrisburg's women's soccer team finally got to show off in front of its hometown crowd on Saturday, Sept. 17. 

Boy was it worth the wait. 

The blue and white put on a clinic in the home opener and pounded Gallaudet 8-0.  The victory kept the Lions' record unblemished (2-0) and kicked off their North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) slate in impressive fashion.

Sophomore midfielder Kara Hoy (Camp Hill, PA/Camp Hill) and freshman forward Nikki Francis (Pottstown, PA/Owen J. Roberts) had big games.  Both scored two goals apiece and each added an assist to lead the way for Penn State Harrisburg. 

Freshman midfielder Caitlin Hostetter (Camp Hill, PA/Camp Hill) got things rolling early, scoring the first goal of the contest off an assist from freshman Lindsey Haldeman (Grantville, PA/Hershey Christian) at the 15:14 mark of the first half.   Haldeman recorded an unassisted goal of her own just minutes later.  Sophomore forward Tatiana Fleetwood-Mack (Allentown, PA/Louis E. Dieruff) notched a goal moments after entering the game off a perfectly placed corner kick from sophomore Bridget Brady (Boyertown, PA/Brandywine Heights).  Freshman midfielder Alli Trutt (Halifax, PA/Halifax) added her first score of the year with less than six minutes remaining in the contest.

Offensively, the Lions had their way with the visiting Bison all day long, as evidenced in one statistic in particular; the blue and white racked up an astounding 36 shots while Gallaudet mustered just three.
