Penn State Harrisburg Women´s Soccer Collect Win Over SUNYIT, 3-1

MIDDLETOWN, PA - Freshman goalkeeper Brittany Adams (Dillsburg, PA/Northern) gets her first college career start and comes up big for the Lady Lions, saving six shots on goal as the Penn State Harrisburg women´s soccer team kick off conference play with a 3-1 victory over SUNY IT.

Lady Lion sophomore Jessi Manion (North Wales, PA/North Penn)scored the game´s first goal and her second of the season in the 2nd minute of play off a feed from freshman Meghan Frailey (Middletown, PA/Middletown).

The Wildcats of SUNY IT were able to tie the match at one a piece by Traci Bicklehaupt´s rebound shot in the 56th minute. But SUNY IT´s celebration was short lived as Lady Lion Lindsay McNeal (Hershey, PA/Hershey) scored just four minutes later coming out a pass from senior captain, Amanda Basile (Allentown, PA/Emmaus). Manion added the blue and white´s third score just minutes later via Allison Collins´(Mechanicsburg, PA/Bishop McDevitt) first assist on the season.

Harrisburg out-shot the Wildcats 18-11 and held a 10-7 advantage in shots on goal.SUNY IT goalkeeper Halie Tyler also turned away seven shots in defeat. SUNY IT drop to 0-3 on the season, 0-1 in the conference, with their next match coming Sunday, September 13, against NEAC opponent, Wilson College.

The Lady Lions improved to 3-1 on the season and meet NEAC opponent Wells College next Saturday, September 19, at 2:00 P.M. at the Penn State Harrisburg soccer field.
