Early Flurry Helps Keep the Lady Lions Perfect

MIDDLETOWN, PA -The freshmen duo of Lindsay McNeal (Hershey, PA/Hershey) and Megan Frailey (Middletown, PA/ Middletown)recorded four points apiece as the Penn State Harrisburg women´ s soccer team took care of North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) foe Cazenovia College 4-1 Saturday afternoon.

McNeal scored the game´s first goal via Frailey and Corinne Mazzotta(Haddam, CT / Haddam Killingworthwith) just 5:32 in the opening period. Six minutes later, Frailey tacked on her fifth goal of the season coming off the feed from Jessi Manion (North Wales, PA/ North Penn) with her fourth assist of the year.

In the 18th minute, senior Amanda Basile (Allentown, PA/Emmaus)found McNeal for her second goal of the game, giving the Lady Lions a 3-0 lead. Sophomore Allie Rank (Halifax, PA/ Halifax) blasted home Harrisburg´s last goal in the 32nd minute via Frailey, giving the blue and white a commanding 4-0 advantage at halftime.

The sole goal for Cazenovia came from Kim Konnick in the 54th minute.

For the game, Harrisubrg out-shot Cazenovia 39-4 and attempted 8 corner kicks. Harrisburg goalkeeper Brittany Adams (Dillsburg, PA/Northern) received little action with only one save coming in the second half. Cazenovia keeper Brittany Westcott turned away 14 shots in a losing effort.

The Lady Lions move to 5-2 on the season and remain perfect in NEAC play, 3-0. Penn State Harrisburg turns to the road where they will face NEAC newcomer, St. Elizabeth College, this Tuesday, September 29, at 3:30 P.M.
