Lady Lions Collect Seventh Win in a Row

MIDDLETOWN, PA - The Penn State Harrisburg women´s soccer team were able to stretch their winning streak to seven with a remarkable win over North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) opponent, Wilson College, Wednesday night at the Penn State Harrisburg soccer field.

Ten Lady Lions collected at least one point in the 9-0 victory with three goals coming from Allison Collins (Mechanicsburg, PA/Bishop McDevitt) in the first 14 minutes of play. Valerie Calvano (Haymarket, VA/Battlefield), Jessi Manion (North Wales, PA/North Penn), Lindsay McNeal (Hershey, PA/Hershey), Allie Rank (Halifax, PA/Halifax), Angela Gilmore (Millersburg, PA/Millersburg) and Lacey Eitl (Collegeville, PA/Perk Valley) tacked on the remaining six goals. Amanda Basile (Allentown, PA/Emmaus) and McNeal were able to collect two assists with Corinne Mazzotta (Haddam, CT/Haddam Kilingworth), Collins, Jordyn Cooper(Pittsfield, MA/Wahconah) and Manion accumulating an assist apiece.

In previous action, the blue and white traveled to Keuka College Saturday, October 10, and came home victorious by defeating the defending 2008 NEAC champions in overtime, 3-2. Lindsay McNeal set the tone early with a 19th minute goal via Corinne Mazzotta. The Keuka Storm tacked on two goals and held a 2-1 advantage before Lady Lion, Allie Rank, scored the tying goal via McNeal in the 84th minute.

Penn State Harrisburg did not waste any time with Mazzotta scoring the game winner just 23 seconds into the overtime period giving the blue and white the victory. Tuesday, October 13, the Lady Lions were able to shutout visiting Christendom College, 8-0, at the Penn State Harrisburg soccer field with Lindsay McNeal tallying three goals with Jessi Manion scoring two as well as Allison Collins and Adrienne Stine (York, PA/Northeastern) collecting one apiece. Megan Frailey (Middletown, PA/Middletown) accumulated three assists while Lindsey Stauffer (Harrisburg, PA/Bishop McDevitt), Valerie Calvano and Corinne Mazzotta recorded one apiece.

Penn State Harrisburg is now 11-2 overall and 7-0 in the NEAC with four games remaining on the schedule, three in which are conference games. As the Lady Lions look to remain perfect in conference play, they must first travel to Washington DC to face off against non-conference opponent, Gallaudet University, this Saturday, October 17. Match time is set for 5:30 P.M.
