Cross Country Opens the Season at LVC's Dutchmen Invitational

LEBANON, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's men's and women's cross country teams took part in their first competition of the season at Lebanon Valley's 50th annual Dutchmen Invitational at Union Canal Tunnel Park on Saturday morning, Sept. 9. 

 

On the men's side, Jon Carnesi led the way for the Lions, finishing the 8K course with a jaunt of 30:02.7 to secure a 68th-place finish out of 153 total competitors. Giulio Capuzzi came home 131st, Camden Lynch finished 146th, and Nick Spohn rounded out the Penn State Harrisburg contingency one spot behind in 147th.

 

Sarah Gibbons was the top finisher for the women's squad, crossing the line in 23:52.1 to come home 101st out of 177 competitors in the 5K race. Kaylee Brown was next in 143rd place, while Alyssa Snyder finished 162nd. Dessire Amaya secured a 165th-place finish and Kalea Green completed the Penn State Harrisburg fivesome in 170th.

 

The Lions return to action at Cairn next weekend, as they'll take part in the United East Championship preview event on Saturday morning, Sept. 16.
