Men's Tennis Falls to Cornell College

HILTON HEAD, S.C. - Penn State Harrisburg's men's tennis team ended their week in South Carolina with an 8-1 loss to Cornell College on Friday night, March 8. 

 

Damir Cuturic battled through a super tiebreak to secure the team's lone victory when he defeated Federico Polidori in a thrilling No. 2 singles contest that ended 6-1, 1-6, 10-3. He teamed up with Cooper Wheeler in the top doubles matchup but the duo fell short. 

 

Elsewhere in doubles action, Penn State Harrisburg (5-4) saw Derwin Merca and Vik Patel topped by Cornell's Trent Devore and Mills Arnold in the second outing, while Andrew Schreck and Riley Fallon were bested in the No. 3 outing. 

 

The Rams (8-4) continued their strong play in singles play, as Wheeler and Merca fell to their Cornell counterparts in the top half of the lineup, while Patel, Fallon, and Harris Ahmed also came up short in the No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6 outings, respectively. 

 

The Lions are back in action on Saturday afternoon, March 23 when they travel to regional opponent Gettysburg. First serve is set for 3 p.m.
