MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg men's tennis team secured a 9-0 sweep over United East opponent Clarks Summit on Saturday afternoon, April 20.
The Lions (10-6, 5-1 United East) got ahead early in doubles action, starting with the No. 1 duo of Owen Ou and Derwin Merca who defeated Clarks Summit's Harrison Michel and Michael Spotts 8-0. Andrew Schreck and Vik Patel secured an 8-0 win over Owen Mileham and Joshua Rowe in the No. 2 outing, while Clayton Herb and Colin Flack finished doubles competition with an 8-2 decision over Toby Hvizdak and Ben Chadwick in the third contest.
Penn State Harrisburg's good fortune continued into singles, as Ou started in the No. 1 spot and secured a victory of 6-3, 6-3 over Michel. Merca earned the win over Mileham 6-1, 6-2 in the second contest, Herb picked up a 6-0, 6-2 victory in the No. 3 slot, and Flack topped Rowe 7-5, 6-0 in the No. 4 spot. Riley Fallon and Harris Ahmed sealed the sweep for the Lions with Fallon's 6-0, 6-2 win in the fifth match and Ahmed's 6-3, 6-1 decision over Chadwick in the sixth position.
The Blue & White end regular season play on Sunday afternoon, April 21 as they host their last United East conference match at 2 p.m against Cairn.
