Men's Tennis Cruises to Victory Over Albright

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's men's tennis team stayed unbeaten on the young season thanks to an 8-1 victory over Albright in non-conference action at the Hoverter Tennis Complex on Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 21. 

 

The Lions (2-0) swept through the three doubles matches to claim an early advantage. Cooper Wheeler and Andrew Schreck defeated Albright's Adam Good and Fox Bryan 8-4 in the top matchup, while Owen Ou and Derwin Merca secured an 8-2 win over Gerardo Sanchez and Sean Peppiatt in the No. 2 outing. Vik Patel and Clayton Herb made it 3-for-3 for the home team with an 8-6 decision over Dylan Huha and Gavin Buckley in the third contest. 

 

Wheeler and Schreck also set the tone in singles action, with each player rolling to 6-2, 6-0 victories in the No. 1 and No. 2 solo matches, respectively. Ou outlasted Huha 6-4, 4-6, 12-10 in the third contest, Patel held on for a 6-4, 5-7, 10-6 win over Clay Lewandowski in the No. 5 slot, and Herb topped Buckley 6-4, 7-5 in the No. 6 outing. Even Merca went the distance against Peppiatt in the third matchup, fighting to the last point before falling 6-2, 1-6, 11-9. 

 

The Lions will look to stay perfect on the young season when they host Hood for their third straight home contest on Saturday afternoon.
