Men's Tennis Advances to Conference Championship Match

READING, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg men's tennis clinched a spot in the upcoming North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Championship Match thanks to a 7-2 victory over Penn State Berks in the tournament's semifinal round on Tuesday afternoon, April 27.

The Blue & White took two of three from the home team in doubles play, with Alex Kurtz and Alex Rohn defeating Collin Hall and Nick Ohline 8-5 the No. 2 contest and Ryan McGlynn and Mohammed Azlmat topping Jacob Metzger and Jake Bolles 8-2 in the third outing.

In singles action, Nick Rohn won a battle with reigning NEAC Player of the Week Curtis Uhle, erasing an early deficit to pick up a 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 decision in the No. 2 showdown. Kurtz took the first set from Hall before the latter retired in the No. 3 matchup and A. Rohn made quick work of Ohline with a 6-2, 6-1 victory in the No. 4 contest. McGlynn worked hard in the second set of a 6-2, 7-5 win over Metzger in the fifth outing and Casey Detwiler came away with a 6-3, 6-4 decision over Bolles in the No. 6 match.

The postseason victory avenged a regular-season loss to Penn State Berks and improved Penn State Harrisburg to 3-3 on the season.

The Lions are set to travel to Lancaster Bible with a chance to win the NEAC Championship Match on Saturday afternoon, May 1. A start time for the contest has yet to be announced.
