Men's Tennis Drops Tight Contest to Waynesburg

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Penn State Harrisburg's men's tennis team suffered just its second loss of the season, falling 5-3 to Waynesburg on the second day of the program's week of spring break competition in South Carolina on Monday morning, March 4.

The Lions (5-2) led after doubles play thanks to wins in the No. 2 and No. 3 matches. Hyun Jun Kwon combined with teammate Austin Stehman to secure an 8-5 victory in the second outing, while Jared Gluck and Alex Kurtz picked up a quick 8-1 decision in the third contest.

Singles action proved tougher, as Kwon was the only Penn State Harrisburg player to come away with a solo win. He defeated Waynesburg's Joe English 6-4, 6-4 in the No. 3 matchup. Gluck and Kurtz each went the distance in their singles outings but both fell to their Yellow Jacket counterparts in three sets.

The Blue & White continue spring break play in Hilton Head against Penn State Behrend on Tuesday afternoon, March 5.
