Middletown, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg is pleased to announce the 2015-2016 Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) All-Academic Team. The Lion athletic teams had 89 men and women earn the honor to be on the All-Academic team this year. To make the team, athletes must receive a 3.2 GPA over the course of the entire year.
CAC champion Salisbury swept the major awards and led all teams with eight players who earned recognition on the 2016 All-CAC Softball team. Senior Molly Simpson was named the CAC Player of the Year, freshman Brooke Mizelle earned Rookie of the Year honors, and head coach Margie Knight was tabbed as the Coach of the Year to complete the Sea Gull sweep of the three major honors.
Penn State Harrisburg traveled to Reading Pa. to take on Albright College in a non-conference double header. Harrisburg fell in both match ups, 3-2 and 4-3.
Penn State Harrisburg took on Southern Virginia in their final conference game of the 2016 regular season. The Lions took both games over the Knights, 9-1 and 9-4.
Penn State Harrisburg traveled to York College (Pa.) to take on the Spartans in a CAC double header match-up. The Lions fell in both games to the Spartans 7-5 and 9-0.
The Lions traveled to take on the 6th ranked Salisbury University. The Seagulls proved too much for the Lions as they fell in both games of the double header, 18-0 and 13-1.
Penn State Harrisburg took on #4 Christopher Newport in a conference double header on Sunday, April 3rd. The Lions fought hard, but in the end lost both games, 11-0 and 12-4.
Middletown, Pa. - Amanda Hartman pitched a complete game and then some for the Penn State Harrisburg softball team on way to an exciting 5-4 eighth inning win over the Stevenson Mustangs on Tuesday March 22nd. The Mustangs responded back strong with an 8-0 win in the final contest of the day.
Middletown, Pa.- Penn State Harrisburg senior, Jackie Furch is a student athlete with a lot of ambition. She is currently studying Communications and will be graduating this spring in May. She currently pitches for the women's softball team here on campus.
Elizabethtown, Pa. – The Penn State Harrisburg softball team came out swinging in their double header match up with the Elizabethtown Blue Jays on Tuesday March 15, 2016. The Blue and White started out strong and eventually swept Elizabethtown 3-2 in game one win and 5-2 in the final contest of the day.
Penn State Harrisburg took to the field on the third day of their trip to Myrtle Beach. They took game one 7-4 over Wilkes University before falling to Suny Poly, 3-0.
Myrtle Beach, S.C- The Penn State Harrisburg softball team only needed a day to get back to .500 on the year after starting out 1-1. The Lion’s won their first game 5-0 against King’s (Pa.) and then struggled in their second against Anna Maria.
North Myrtle Beach, SC.- The Penn State Harrisburg softball team traveled to South Carolina for their spring break trip. The women started off their week today with a loss to Eastern, 5-3, and a win against Rhode Island College, 7-6.
PENN STATE HARRISBURG is looking to build off a successful 2015 campaign that saw the Lions secure a bid in the ECAC South Championship. Key returners include senior catcher Rieley Loch, senior utility player Jackie Furch, and senior outfielder Jasmine Yanich. The Lions will aim for a spot in the conference playoffs this spring after a sixth-place CAC finish last year.
