Lions Fall to Albright

Lions Fall to Albright

Penn State Harrisburg traveled to Reading Pa. to take on Albright College in a non-conference double header. Harrisburg fell in both match ups, 3-2 and 4-3.

In game one, the Blue and White came out looking to shut down Albright early, but they had other ideas scoring the first and second runs of the game in the 2nd and 4th innings to take the 2-0 lead going into the 5th inning. Harrisburg would fight back in the 5th, when Erelle Sowers (Harleysville, Pa. / Souderton Area) singled in their first run of the game while Jenna Rupakus (New Milford, Pa. / Blue Ridge) followed suit in the 6th to tie the game at two. Entering the bottom of the 7th Albright would find a way to get a runner on base before singling with two outs to score the winning run. Albright took the game by the score of 3-2.

In game two, Albright would carry their momentum into the first inning scoring three runs to take the 3-0 lead after the first inning. After two scoreless innings, Harrisburg would again fight back to tie the game after scoring two runs in the 4th and one in the 5th highlighted by Rieley Loch (Madison Township, Pa. / North Pocono) homerun to tie the game 3-3. But just like game one, Albright would find the answer scoring a run in the bottom of the 5th which would be all that they needed taking the game by the score 4-3.

Loch led Penn State Harrisburg at the plate going 3 for 5 with three walks, a double, a homerun and a RBI.

The Lions will finish their 2016 campaign when they travel to Juniata next Tuesday, April 26th with first pitch at 3:00 P.M.
