Penn State Harrisburg Splits with Wesley

Penn State Harrisburg traveled to take on Wesley College in a conference double header. The Lions fell in game one, 7-8 before taking game two, 4-2.

In game one, the Lions looked to jump to the early lead as Amanda Hartman (Reading, Pa. / Oley Valley) doubled to bring in two runs to take the early 2-0 in the top of the first. The Wolverine's would come back scoring three in the 1st before scoring one in the 5th and four in the 6th to take the 8-2 lead going into the final inning. The Blue and White got the 7th inning started as Kristen Evans (Harrisburg, Pa. / Dauphin County Technical) singled up the middle. The Lions would find some two out magic as Jenna Rupakus (New Milford, Pa. / Blue Ridge) doubled to put runners on 2nd and 3rd. A dropped fly ball would bring both runners home before the Lions would bring three more across to bring the game within one. But the Wolverine's shut the door taking the game 7-8.

In game two, the Lions would jump on Wesley scoring four runs off of three hits and two errors to take the early 4-0 lead. Wesley saw  a great pitching performance by Hartman, who went five innings while only giving up four hits and two runs to make it a 4-2 game through 5 innings. The Lions would look to Erelle Sowers (Harleysville, Pa. / Souderton Area) to save the game. She went two innings while only allowing two hits to record the save and give the Lions the 4-2 win.

Hartman led the way for the Lions at the plate, and on the mound going 2 for 8 at the plate with four RBIs while pitching 11 strong innings. Emily Parmer (Willow Street, Pa. / Solanco) also helped the Lions going 4-8 with a stolen base through both games.

The Lions will be back in action again on Wednesday, April 13th when they travel to York College (Pa.) with first pitch set for 3:00 p.m.
