Penn State Harrisburg Sweeps Conference Finale

Penn State Harrisburg took on Southern Virginia in their final conference game of the 2016 regular season. The Lions took both games over the Knights, 9-1 and 9-4.

In game one, the Knights came out firing looking for their first conference win of the year scoring the first run of the game to take the early 1-0 lead. After the first inning the Lions shut the Knights down only allowing three more hits and no more runs through the final five innings. While the Lions shut the Knights down at the plate they found their bats, scoring three in the 1st, two in the 2nd and one in both the 3rd and 4th before Jackie Furch (Hallstead, Pa. / Blue Ridge) hit a 2 RBI double in the bottom of the 6th to take the lead and the game 9-1. Rieley Loch (Madison Township, Pa. / North Pocono) led the Lions going 3 for 4 with two RBIs and a homerun while scoring four runs in game one.

In game two, the Knight came out swinging jumping on the Lions 3-0 through the top of the 3rd. The Lions would answer back in the bottom of the 3rd, scoring four runs highlighted by an Emily Parmer (Willow Street, Pa. / Solanco) two RBI single to take the lead 4-3 after three innings. After giving up one more run in the top of the 5th the Lions would run away with the game, scoring four runs in the 5th and one more in the 6th to take the game 9-4.

Loch and Parmer led the Lions going a combined 8 for 13 with eight RBIs in the two games.

The Lions will travel for a non-conference game this Tuesday April 19th when they take on Albright starting at 3 P.M.
