Golf Sits Third After Day One of Conference Championships

WILLINGBORO, N.J. – Penn State Harrisburg's men's golf team had a nice showing on day one of the 2022 United East Championships at the Rancocas Golf Club on Saturday, April 23. The Lions find themselves in the third position out of eight competing teams after the first day of competition.

 

Penn State Harrisburg sits in third with a combined score of 324, 12 strokes behind the leaders from Rosemont and a single stroke behind the current runners-up from Penn State Berks. Matthew Redman leads the way for the Blue & White, with his score of 78 (+7) good enough for fifth place.

 

Andrew Fink and Ian Martin shot identical 82s (+11) and currently hold a share of 13th place, while Joshua Africa's 83 (+12) was good enough to enough to earn a share of 15th overall. Tiger Xu rounded out the Penn State Harrisburg contingency, carding an 85 to sit in 17th after day one.

 

Penn State Abington's Shane Nocito leads the pack with a 71 (E) and holds a three-stroke lead over Rutgers-Camden's Patrick DeMareo and Rosemont's Samuel Reynolds. Trevor Dydo from Penn State Berks sits in fourth and Redman rounds out the top five.

 

The final round of the United East Championships begins on Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m.
