Michael Banzhoff brings professional and winning coaching experience to Golf program

Head Coach Michael Banzhoff is entering his first season as the Penn State Harrisburg head golf coach.  Coach Banzhoff is a long time local product that attended and played golf at Chambersburg Area High School.

Banzhoff then moved on to play Division 1 golf at Penn State University.  While there he won 2 collegiate golf tournaments and finished in the top 15 twice at the Big Ten Championships.  He also qualified and participated in the NCAA national tournament.
After College, Michael also had the opportunity to play professional.  He never made it to the PGA tour (missing a few events by only one stroke), but still  had a successful 12 year career participating in the mini tours, PGA qualifiers, and a host of State and City open tournaments.

Mike started coaching High Scholl in 2009, where he was the head golf coach at Shippensburg High School.  He was able to make an ubeleivable transformation to the program.  He turned an 0-90 team into a winning side in just 3 years.

In 2010, he also became the head golf coach for Penn State Mount Alto. In his first year he led the team to state title and 3rd place finish in nationals.  The following year they finished second in states and sixth in the nation.

Coach Mike comes to Penn State with over 12 years coaching experience, not to mention his time playing personally amongst some of the best golfers in the country.  He should be a great fit to the lively group of young golfers that have made back to back trips to the national tournament.
