MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – In celebration of the last 10-plus years of success on the court, Penn State Harrisburg women's volleyball has announced its all-decade team. The illustrious group of student-athletes includes players active between the fall of 2011 and the conclusion of the 2020 campaign. The lineup is comprised of seven total players, including a pair of middle blockers, an outside hitter, one setter, a defensive specialist, and two multi-positional players.
The overall success of the all-decade team includes a pair of North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Tournament appearances, an NCAA Statistical Championship, a conference major award, five all-conference accolades, and numerous program records.
DS Kari Ammerman
Penn State Harrisburg's all-time leader in digs, Kari Ammerman racked up 1,001 of them during her career. In addition to her defensive prowess from the back row and as a libero, she also tallied 95 service aces during her career; a number good enough to rank fourth all-time. During a match in 2018, the Troy, Pa. native amassed 35 digs; the second-highest single-match total in program history.
MB Brittany Ebaugh
The most decorated player in Penn State Harrisburg history, Brittany Ebaugh holds 10 program records and a share of another. The Stewartstown, Pa. native is the Lions' all-time leader in points (1,184.5), kills (938), block solos (114), and block assists (141), as well as the single-season record holder for points (416.5), kills (305), block solos (70), and block assists (75). She also holds single-match program records for kills (22) and block solos (9), as well as a share of the single-match mark for points (24). The hard-hitting middle blocker's 2019 season was especially historic, as she secured the NCAA Statistical Championship in the category of block solos (70) to go along with NEAC Defensive Player of the Year honors and ECAC and NEAC All-Conference First-Team recognition. Following her senior campaign, Ebaugh was named a conference nominee for the 2020 NCAA Woman of the Year Award.
MB Chidere Igwe
An anchor for Penn State Harrisburg during the first half of the decade, Chidere Igwe was a consistent producer at the net throughout her four-year career. The athletic middle blocker sits second all-time in career block solos (76), third in kills (502), and fourth in total points (634.5). For her particularly strong play during the 2012 season, the West Orange, N.J. native was named to the NEAC All-Conference Third Team.
OH/S Alexis Imler
One of the most versatile players in program history, Alexis Imler finds herself among Penn State Harrisburg's all-time leaders in a number of statistical categories, ranking third in career assists (631), fourth in block assists (71), sixth in both kills (462) and digs (556), and seventh in total points (567.5). The Bedford, Pa. native was especially stout during her senior season and the talented hitter/setter hybrid was rewarded for her efforts with a 2019 NEAC All-Conference Second-Team selection.
DS/OH Katie Kreider
Another player whose versatility proved a major asset during her four-year career, Katie Kreider amassed success across the board whether at the net, as a defensive specialist, or as a libero. The Lebanon, Pa. native ranks second all-time in digs (870), as well as third in both career points (640.5) and service aces (126), and fourth in kills (489). She turned in a career year as a senior in 2019 and her top-notch play earned her a NEAC All-Conference Third-Team accolade.
Despite being robbed of a season due to the worldwide pandemic, Melanie Sheaffer remains one of the top front row players in recent memory. Among all Penn State Harrisburg players, the Palmyra, Pa. native ranks second in career points (739.0) and kills (610), as well as third all-time in block assists (78). The outside hitter's 19 kills during a match in 2018 also stands as the third-highest single-match total in program history.
S Casey Stump
As a passer, Casey Stump is unmatched as a producer among Penn State Harrisburg players. The sure-handed setter's 2,114 career assists is a program record by a wide margin and she also set the all-time mark for service aces with 144. The Harrisburg, Pa. native ranks fifth all-time in digs (621) and holds the single-match program record for assists with 48. Her 681 assists during the 2017 campaign is the second-highest single-season total ever and her eight service aces during a contest that same year is the second-highest single-match number in program history.
