LeGendre Earns Student-Athlete of the Week Accolade

MIDDLETOWN, Pa.- The Lions number one singles player, Gabrielle LeGendre (East Stroudsburg, PA/Notre Dame), earned the honor of North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Women's Tennis Student-Athlete of the Week for the time period ending Sunday, Oct. 2.

In three matches this past week, the freshman racked up an impressive overall record of 5-1, going 2-1 in singles play and 3-0 as a member of a doubles team.  Her only loss of the week came against Philadelphia Biblical in a hard fought, three-set contest. LeGendre and teammate Theodora Avramidis (Glenwood, NJ/Vernon Township) defeated their doubles counterparts 9-8.

Her performance against Penn State Altoona in both singles (6-0, 6-0) and doubles play (8-0) led the Lions to their first win of the season on Sunday, Sept. 25.  On Friday, Sept. 30, she followed it up by sweeping her singles match (7-6, 6-3) against Baptist Bible and winning her second doubles match (9-8) of the week with Avaramidis as her partner.  Her wins were the driving force behind Penn State Harrisburg's second victory of the week and the year.
