Keenan Schaeffer enters his second full year as the top assistant coach for Penn State Harrisburg's men's soccer program in the fall of 2019. Schaeffer, a 2011 graduate of Elizabethtown College, brings a diverse background to the squad on and off the pitch.

 

The Wrightsville, Pa., product was a four-year varsity starter at Eastern York High School before being recruited by Elizabethtown. He played two years for the Blue Jays and was also a thrower for the school's track & field team for one season. Most recently, he played two years for the Hershey FC men's team.

 

Schaeffer is also currently the goalkeeping coach for Millersville University's men's soccer team. He began at MU during the spring of 2015 and helped mentor the Marauders to a PSAC finals appearance and NCAA tournament bid that fall. Under Schaeffer's tutelage, his goalkeepers allowed just 15 goals (a decrease of 18 from the 2014 campaign) and secured up 10 shutouts (an increase of seven from the year prior).

 

For the past five years, Schaeffer has been coaching clubs throughout Central Pennsylvania as he pursues his passion of teaching young athletes. He has experience coaching U-9, U-21 and all age groups in between. He has coached male and females throughout his career and was also was the head coach for his alma mater of Eastern York for three years. 

 

Schaeffer holds a United Soccer Coaches (USC) Goalkeeping Level 3 Diploma, as well as the Advanced National diploma. He has also pursued U.S. Soccer licensing by getting his E.
