Altland Set to Join Women's Soccer Coaching Staff

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg women's soccer head coach Brandon West has announced that former standout and recent graduate Kylee Altland will join his staff as an assistant coach.

 

A three-year starter for Penn State Harrisburg after transferring from Division II Fairmont State, Altland finished her illustrious career with 47 total points thanks to 17 goals, including five game-winning markers, and 13 assists. 

 

"Kylee had an amazing career here as a student athlete," said West. "She had a tremendous impact on our program both on and off the field and I am excited she wants to pursue coaching and stay on board with us. She will be a valuable addition to our staff and will provide our players a great experience on and off the field"

 

Her senior season culminated with a College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District plaudit after she was named to the United East Volt Division All-Conference First Team. She matched the single-season program record for assists with nine helpers and added a goal against nationally-ranked Franklin & Marshall. 

 

The Millersburg, Pa. native was named to the United Soccer Coaches (USC) All-Region IV Third Team following a junior campaign that saw her rack up 18 total points on eight goals, including two game-winning markers, and a pair of assists. She earned a spot on the United East All-Conference First Team for her efforts. Off the field, she served as the school's Student-Athlete Leadership Council (SALC) Secretary and was named the Penn State Harrisburg Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year. 

 

"I am very excited to be joining the coach staff," said Altland about her new position. "As a player, this program helped me develop into the young woman that I am today. It taught me countless life lessons, helped build my confidence, and showed me the importance of pursuing excellence in all areas of life. This program has given me so much and I am excited to be able to give back to it in a different role."

 

During her first season with the program in 2021, she led the team with 18 total points thanks to eight goals and a pair of assists. She was named to the United East All-Conference Second Team before netting a pair of markers, including the game winner, in the United East Championship Game en route to earning tournament MVP honors. 

 

Altland's also been strong in the classroom throughout her career, earning three conference scholar-athlete awards during her time at Penn State Harrisburg. She graduated with her MBA in December 2023 after earning her bachelor's degree in marketing in December 2022.
