MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Thanks to their combination of athletic and academic success this fall, three Penn State Harrisburg women's soccer players in Kylee Altland, Kyla Brossoit, and Sydney Hemler have earned College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honors.

For Hemler, it is the second straight season she has received the distinction, while Altland and Brossoit each earned the accolade for the first time.

The 2023 CSC Academic All-District Women's Soccer Team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA.

Altland was a key distributor for Penn State Harrisburg and racked up a United East Volt Division-leading nine assists during her final season with the program. The Millersburg, Pa. native added a goal in a draw at nationally-ranked Franklin & Marshall in late September to tally 11 total points on the year. The graduate student has been outstanding in the classroom throughout her career and holds a 3.88 cumulative GPA as she works towards earning her MBA.

Brossoit finished as the program's leading scorer for the second year in a row, netting seven goals this fall, including six game-winning markers. The Hanover, Pa. native added three assists to record a team-high 17 total points on the season. She was named the United East Volt Division Offensive Player of the Week in mid-October. The Biology major has also excelled academically and currently holds a 3.88 cumulative GPA.

Hemler helped anchor a defensive unit that ranked 34th in the nation in shutout percentage (.579) after recording 11 shutouts this fall and surrendering just .79 goals per contest. The Boiling Springs, Pa. native wrapped up one of the most-decorated careers in program history by tallying eight total points thanks to three goals and two assists. The Biology major has been consistently strong in the classroom, carries a 3.83 cumulative GPA, and is set to graduate in December.
