ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. - Penn State Harrisburg's women's soccer team has shown itself capable of winning tight contests this season, with the latest evidence coming in the form of a 1-0 shutout victory over conference foe St. Mary's (Md.) on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 7.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Penn State Harrisburg (6-3-3, 3-0-0 United East) needed just one goal to pick up the valuable road victory over the Seahawks (3-5-2, 1-2-0 United East) on Saturday and remain undefeated in United East play.

The Lions converted the game's lone marker midway through the first half when Kylee Altland booted a ball towards the St. Mary's goal and Kyla Brossoit beat her defender to the ball before putting her attempt past goalkeeper Kylie Wells and into the right side of the net in the 15th minute.

The defense was strong for the regionally-ranked Lions after Brossoit scored what proved to be the game-winning marker, keeping the Seahawks from getting off an attempt in the final 30 minutes of the opening half.

After the break, the Penn State Harrisburg defensive unit was just as pesky, holding St. Mary's to just one shot on frame that goalkeeper Sydney Mulka turned away just 33 seconds into the second half.
