FREDERICK, Md. - Penn State Harrisburg's women's soccer team got back to the .500 mark with a 1-0 road victory over Hood on Tuesday night, Sept. 19.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Penn State Harrisburg (3-3-1) picked up a hard-fought victory over a scrappy Hood squad in non-conference action on Tuesday night. The shutout was the team's fourth clean sheet of the young season.

The evenly-matched affair was ultimately decided early in the second half when Kyla Brossoit finished off an attempt from point-blank range following a drive and assist from Kylee Altland in the game's 56th minute. The Lions were rewarded after an onslaught that included shots from Kylie Anne Yap and Amy Patkos just moments before.

The hometown Blazers (2-4-1) made a push midway through the second half when Penn State Harrisburg goalkeeper Sydney Mulka was forced to make a pair of saves and again when Mulka turned away an attempt in the 83rd minute after a corner kick but the sophomore answered the call and preserved the slim victory with the crucial stops.

NOTABLES

- With the win, the Lions improved to 3-3 all-time against Hood.

- Brossoit's goal was the seventh game winner of her career - a number good enough to rank third all-time in program history.

- Altland's assist was her second helper of the season.

- Mulka made four saves to secure the shutout victory.

- Penn State Harrisburg finished with a 6-to-4 edge in shots on goal.
