BALTIMORE, Md. - Penn State Harrisburg's women's soccer team battled to a scoreless draw with Goucher on the road in non-conference action on Wednesday night, Sept. 13. The result is the team's first tie of the young season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Penn State Harrisburg (2-2-1) proved the aggressor out of the gate on Wednesday night, earning a pair of corner kicks in the game's first 17 minutes and getting off the contest's first five shots. Unfortunately for the Lions, none of the early attempts found the back of the net.

The Penn State Harrisburg defense was strong in the opening half, allowing just one shot on goal in the first 45 minutes. Goucher (1-0-3) got off its first attempt in the 43rd minutes but goalkeeper Sydney Mulka made the save shortly before the break.

The Lions had a couple of chances to break the scoreless tie early in the second half but shots by Kylee Altland were wide, while attempts from Sarah Toche-Manley and Kylie Anne Yap were turned away by Goucher goalkeeper Madison Gutierrez.

The Gophers made a push midway through the second half but Mulka proved game and kept the home team off the board heading into the final stretch. Penn State Harrisburg managed a final corner kick in the closing minutes but again proved unable to turn it into points.

NOTABLES

- The Lions finished with a 14-to-7 overall shots advantage.

- Altland led the way with five attempts, while Yap and Brossoit got off two apiece.

- Mulka made four saves in goal for Penn State Harrisburg.
