MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Despite controlling the pace for much of the evening, Penn State Harrisburg's women's soccer team was forced to settle with a scoreless draw with Houghton on Saturday night, Sept. 3.

The Lions (0-0-2) had their opportunities, as evidenced by their massive advantages in total shots, shots on goal, and corner kicks, but they were unable to capitalize and convert the potential game-winning marker.

Goalkeeper Megan Merrifield proved the game changer for Houghton. She made seven stops in net, including a couple of difficult saves that kept Penn State Harrisburg off the board and allowed the Highlanders (1-0-1) to escape with a tie.

NOTABLES

- Saturday's contest was the first-ever meeting between the two programs.

- The Lions outshot Houghton 14-3 overall and 7-0 in shots on frame.

- Penn State Harrisburg also finished with a decided advantage in corner kicks (12-4).

- Sophia Meller led the way with a team-high three shots.
