Women's Soccer Captures Regular Season Conference Title

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg's women's soccer team clinched the 2021 United East Regular Season Championship with a 1-0 victory over Penn State Berks on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 23.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Lions (9-4-4, 7-0-1 United East) finished unbeaten in conference play and secured the United East Regular Season Title thanks to a 1-0 shutout of defending league champion Penn State Berks (6-8-2, 5-2-1 United East) on Saturday afternoon.

Penn State Harrisburg wasted little time getting on the board, taking advantage of a corner kick when Katie Kosovac connected with Sydney Hemler on an insertion that Hemler headed home to put the home team ahead in the 11th minute.

The visitors managed three corner kicks throughout the rest of the opening half but failed to convert in those instances. After the break, Penn State Harrisburg stayed aggressive and controlled the possession for much of the second half.

Penn State Berks' Emily Clapper got off a shot on frame with 15 minutes remaining but goalkeeper Delaney Shifflett turned her away. From there, the Penn State Harrisburg defense kept the visitors from getting another look at the potential equalizer the rest of the way.
