Women's Soccer Blanks Gallaudet

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Penn State Harrisburg's women's soccer team scored early and often and kept Gallaudet off the board in a 6-0 shutout victory on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 16. Sarah Calkins found the back of the net twice, while Kylee Altland had one goal and added an assist in the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Lions (7-4-4, 6-0-1 United East) tallied five first-half goals and limited their opposition to just one shot in a shutout victory over United East foe Gallaudet (1-9, 0-6 United East) on Saturday afternoon.

It took just 12 minutes for the visitors to get on the board, as Hannah Morrison finished off a ball from Altland before the latter got into the scoring act herself six minutes later, this time off a pass from Katie Kosovac in the 18th minute.

Sarah Toche-Manley increased the advantage with a strike that hit the left post and deflected home in the 21st minute and Sydney Armstrong made it 4-0 when she put back a rebounded shot less than five minutes later. Calkins connected on her first marker of the afternoon in the 32nd minute, giving Penn State Harrisburg a five-goal lead heading into the break.

The Blue & White preserved the advantage for much of the second half until Calkins struck again, this time on a breakaway goal in with less than eight minutes left to play. Hollie Holthaus recorded the assist on the game's final score.
