Women's Soccer Withstands Albright In Scoreless Draw

READING, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg's women's soccer team fought Albright to a scoreless draw at Shirk Stadium in Reading, Pa. on Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 15.

HOW IT HAPPENED

For the second time this season, Penn State Harrisburg battled for 110 minutes en route to securing a 0-0 double-overtime tie. With neither the Blue & White nor Albright able to find the back of the net on Wednesday, the Lions record went to 1-1-3 overall, while the home team went to 2-2-2.

The visitors' best chance to find twine in extra time came late in the first overtime period when Rhyan Socash got off an attempt with less than 10 seconds left on the clock but Albright goalkeeper McKenna Levan made one of her three saves on the day to keep things scoreless and send the contest to a second extra session.

Goalkeeper Delaney Shifflett, the reigning United East Defensive Player of the Week, accounted for the highlight of the night in the game's 71st minute. Staring down Albright's Diza Hasanaj on a penalty kick attempt, Shifflett dove to her left to make a crucial save and turn away the home team's chances of getting on the board late in the second half.

As a unit, Penn State Harrisburg's back line held Albright to just five shots on frame despite 14 attempts overall and Shifflett proved game, making five saves to earn her second shutout of the season.
