Women's Soccer Picks Up First Win of the Season

ONEONTA, N.Y. – Penn State Harrisburg's women's soccer team picked up its first win of the young season on the final day of Mayor's Cup competition on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 12. The Lions got goals from Eden Haldeman and Rhyan Socash and kept Oneonta off the board to earn a 2-0 shutout victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED

For the second day in a row, Penn State Harrisburg (1-1-2) made its shots on goal count while playing tough defense and securing a shutout victory.

After a scoreless first half, the visitors finally broke through when Eden Haldeman gathered a deflected pass from Rhyan Socash and fired her attempt over the outstretched arm of Oneonta goalkeeper Claire Lepper and into the back of the net in the 47th minute.

Then it was Socash's turn to get into the scoring act, as she connected on her second marker in as many outings less than 15 minutes later to double the lead and put even more pressure on the hometown Red Dragons (0-4-0).
