How It Happened

Penn State Harrisburg secured a valuable early-season North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) victory on Saturday afternoon, coming out on the right end of a 2-1 decision over Lancaster Bible at LBC's Donald H. Funk Field.

Samantha Day put the Lions (4-4, 2-0 NEAC) on the board first and Kristen Stark's game winner off an Elizabeth Clippinger helper was a response to the home team's lone goal, breaking a tie early in the second half.

Just when it looked like the teams would head into halftime with neither squad having found the back of the net, Day broke the stalemate and put the visitors ahead with a strike in the 41st minute.

Following the break, the Chargers (4-3, 1-1 NEAC) wasted little time in drawing even, as Kara Huber converted a pretty attempt just two minutes into the second half.

But as quickly as Lancaster Bible pulled even, the Blue & White answered with what would prove to the deciding goal less than two minutes later. Clippinger connected with Stark and the forward finished off the play by putting her shot past goalkeeper Erin Mikula in the 48th minute.

The Lions dominated the rest of the contest, getting off 14 total shots in the final 45 minutes compared to just two from the home team. Lancaster Bible managed just one shot one goal in the last 40 minutes but goalkeeper Hannah Williams was there to make the stop.

- The Lions held a substantial 21-to-7 edge in total shots.

- Penn State Harrisburg got off 10 shots on target, compared to just four by the Chargers.

- The Blue & White racked up seven corner kicks. Lancaster Bible managed just one.
