Frailey Paces Lions With Two Hat Tricks In Three Games

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - The Lady Lions of Penn State Harrisburg had a busy week of NEAC road games, visiting Wilson College on Wednesday and travelling to SUNY IT and SUNY Cobleskill over the weekend.

Wilson College proved to be little competition for the experienced Lady Lions as they strode to an 8-1 victory. Megan Frailey (Middletown, PA/Middletown) began the scoring for the Lady Lions with two early first half unassisted goals. Frailey's goals were the lone goals of the half, giving the Lady Lions a 2-0 lead going into the second period. Just one minute into the second, Wilson scored their lone goal of the game, coming from Courtney Bernecker, bring the score 2-1; too close for the Lady Lions.

The Lady Lions dug deep and pulled out 6 more goals before the final buzzer to secure the win. Frailey completed a hat trick scoring her third goal of the game at the 67th minute. Also adding goals were Erin Murphy (East Berlin, PA/Bermudian Springs), Shelly Erb (Jonestown, PA/Northern Lebanon), Adrienne Stine (York, PA/Northeastern) and Lindsey McNeal (Hershey, PA/Hershey), who added two.

The Lady Lions continued their stretch of NEAC games on Saturday against SUNY IT. The Wildcats entered the game undefeated in the conference and ready to take on Penn State Harrisburg. Sarah Magnuson (Bangor, PA/Bangor) notched her second goal of the season to give the Lady Lions and early 1-0 lead but the Lady Lions couldn't hold onto their lead as the Wildcats scored four consecutive goals to take the game 4-1. SUNY IT handed Penn State Harrisburg their first conference loss of the season and improving their record to 8-3 and 5-0 in the NEAC.

Looking for an opportunity to rebound, the Lady Lions took the field Sunday against SUNY Cobleskill in their final NEAC game of the week. The game remained scoreless until the 32nd minute when the Lady Lions found their groove. Frailey knocked one in the net to begin the scoring marathon. Jessie Manion follow suit and score the second goal of the day. The Lady Lions found the net seven times, shutting out Cobleskill 7-0 in one of their most dominating performances yet. Frailey recorded her second hat trick of the week, giving her a 12 goal total on the season.

The Lady Lions host Susquehanna University on Wednesday, October 6th at 6:00 PM.
