Lady Lions Defeat Rival Berks, 2-0

MIDDLETOWN, PA - Lindsay McNeal (Hershey, PA/Hershey) and Jessi Manion (North Wales, PA/North Penn) each scored a goal in the 2-0 victory over conference rival, Penn State Berks, Wednesday night at the Penn State Harrisburg soccer field.

McNeal scored the first goal off the feed from senior captain Amanda Basile (Allentown, PA/ Emmaus) in the 12th minute to give the Lady Lions the 1-0 lead. The blue and white´s offense keep the pressure on visiting goalkeeper, Cassidy Dawson, by firing off 12 shots in the first half but failed to take advantage, keeping the score at 1-0 at halftime.

Penn State Harrisburg was able to keep the same pace shooting 15 shots in the second half, with Manion grabbing her sixth goal on the season via Basile in the 57th minute.

Harrisburg out-shot Berks 27-3, with 14 going on goal. The blue and white also held a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks.

With Wednesday´s victory, the Lady Lions break the record for most wins in a single season within the Penn State Harrisburg women´s soccer program while improving to 8-2 on the season.

Penn State Harrisburg now sits alone on top of the North Eastern Athletic Conference standings, 5-0, and look to continue their tremendous season this Saturday, October 10, at Keuka College to face a 4-1 (NEAC) Storm team who beat the blue and white in a last second shot at home last season. Match time is set for 1:00 P.M.
